Your new job

The Custodial Services is an important service function that contributes daily to facilitating the municipality's operations.

We are now looking for a unit manager who wants to be present in everyday life, lead through participation, and contribute practical expertise to daily operations.

As the unit manager for Custodial Services, you are part of the Technical Office and the Operational Support Department. The department consists of four operations: Cleaning Services, Service Management, Operational Support, and Custodial Services. Together, we have a common mission – to facilitate the everyday life of the municipality's operations through good service and contribute to making Jönköping Municipality an attractive workplace.

We are looking for someone who thrives in an operational leadership role where you combine structure and responsibility with practical knowledge. You have a background in craftsmanship, property management, or technical services and want to take overall responsibility for operations, employees, and results.

You are responsible for operations, personnel, work environment, and finances within the unit and its 25 employees. In this role, you lead and distribute daily tasks and ensure that assignments are carried out safely, efficiently, and with high quality. The assignment is close to operations – you are a support in practical and technical matters while also working systematically with planning, follow-up, and development. You translate goals and guidelines into concrete actions and create a work environment where employees thrive, develop, and take responsibility.

Custodial Services assignments exist, among other places, within the municipality's elderly homes and preschools. Your placement is in central Jönköping, and working hours are mainly scheduled for weekdays during office hours.

Your qualifications

We are looking for a confident and clear leader with good structure and the ability to prioritize and make decisions. You are communicative and build trust in dialogue with both employees and customers. As a person, you are solution-oriented, responsible, and unpretentious. You lead through presence, knowledge, and clarity and create engagement by being involved in the operations. The role requires presence in daily operations and is physically demanding.

You have a good understanding of how work tasks should be performed safely, efficiently, and with quality, as well as the ability to support employees in both planning and execution.

Requirements

• Experience in leadership or managerial roles with personnel responsibility
• Practical work experience in craftsmanship, property management, or technical services
• Experience in budget work and financial follow-up
• Manual B driver's license
• Good knowledge of Swedish in both spoken and written form
• Good computer skills and accustomed to working in various systems
• Good physical ability

Meritorious

• Knowledge of systematic fire protection work (SBA)
• Experience from work in public operations
• Completed and documented leadership training
• Experience in mentoring and training others
• Knowledge of work environment legislation and relevant safety regulations
